Metabolism of dibutylphthalate and phthalate by Micrococcus sp. strain 12B.
Micrococcus sp. strain 12B was isolated by enriching for growth with dibutylphthalate as the sole carbon and energy source. A pathway for the metabolism of dibutylphthalate and phthalate by micrococcus sp. strain 12B is proposed: dibutylphthalate leads to monobutylphthalate leads to phthalate leads to 3,4-dihydro-3,4-dihydroxyphthalate leads to 3,4-dihydroxyphthalate leads to protocatechuate (3...
متن کاملBiotransformation of 3-methylphthalate by Micrococcus sp. strain 12B.
When Micrococcus strain 12B grown on o-phthalate was incubated with 3-methylphthalate, three compounds accumulated. These were shown to be 2-pyrone-3-methyl-4,6-dicarboxylic acid, 3,4-dihydroxy-6-methylphthalic acid, and 5-hydroxy-3-methyphthalic acid, all previously undescribed. A pathway for the formation of these compounds is proposed.
متن کاملBiodegradation of cypermethrin by immobilized cells of Micrococcus sp. strain CPN 1
Pyrethroid pesticide cypermethrin is a environmental pollutant because of its widespread use, toxicity and persistence. Biodegradation of such chemicals by microorganisms may provide an cost-effective method for their detoxification. We have investigated the degradation of cypermethrin by immobilized cells of Micrococcus sp. strain CPN 1 in various matrices such as, polyurethane foam (PUF), pol...
متن کاملBiodegradation kinetics of benzoic and anthranilic acids by Micrococcus sp
This study presents biodegradation of benzoic acid (BA) and anthranilic acid (AA) by Micrococcus sp. under aerobic conditions. Initial concentrations of BA and AA were varied (500-2500 mg/l) and almost complete biodegradation of BA and AA was observed within 30 h. Andrews kinetic model for single substrate was fitted to obtain maximum specific growth rates, half saturation and substrate inhibit...
متن کاملPlasmid-encoded phthalate catabolic pathway in Arthrobacter keyseri 12B.
Several 2-substituted benzoates (including 2-trifluoromethyl-, 2-chloro-, 2-bromo-, 2-iodo-, 2-nitro-, 2-methoxy-, and 2-acetyl-benzoates) were converted by phthalate-grown Arthrobacter keyseri (formerly Micrococcus sp.) 12B to the corresponding 2-substituted 3,4-dihydroxybenzoates (protocatechuates). Because these products lack a carboxyl group at the 2 position, they were not substrates for t...
